Handzame is a district of Kortemark, quiet and with a rural character, in Westhoek, a region claimed from the First World War. Those who seek peace and quiet will be in paradise here. At Handzame: blues festival the last weekend in September. In nearby villages: museum and archaeological site of De Hoge Andjoen at Werken, the French museum at Koekelare and the German military cemetary at Vladslo. Other places of interest at Ypres (museum and hall of tapestries), Veurne (large town with Renaissance buildings, different churches) and Diksmuide with numerous reminders of the last war, the Yser Tower and the Museum of Peace.
