Stary Smokovec is a well-known tourist centre at the foot of the Slavkovsky Stit (2,452 m), excursion point to the central part of the high Tatra, the valley of Velicke, Velke a Male Studene. Narrow-gauge railway connection to Poprad which is 20 km south and further to Strbske Pleso.
