Topography:
Tignes is situated a few kms above Val d'Isere approx 30 km from Bourg St Maurice and 130 km east of Chambery. The charming small village of Les Boisses is situated on othe other side of the dam and is connected by chair lift in the winter to the heart of the resort, 6 km above, with its little lake. There are three districts: Tignes Le Lac is the main village centre, Le Lavachet is on the side of the lake and le Val Claret is 2 km further up at the foot of the main funicular to the glacier. All districts are connected by free ski bus. Thanks to its unique situation Tignes offers a wonderful snow record and assured skiing 365 days per year. 1 funicular, 2 cable cabins, 27 chair lifts and 19 drag lifts. The whole area, with the connection to Val d'Isere is known as Espace Killy which is one of the largest ski areas in the world. Good selection of restaurants, bars, disco, cinema. Internet cafe in Val Claret and multimedia space in Le Lac. Sports centre with tennis, squash, sauna, massage, gym.
