Grantown on Spey is the capital of the Strathspey region, situated on the banks of the River Spey approximately 24 km north of Aviemore and 45 km south of Inverness. It is a very pleasant Victorian new torn providing peave and quiet with its woodland walks and beautiful town square which is the venue for many open air pipe band performances and fetes throughout the season. Grantown offers golf, tennis, mountain biking. Many historic buildings also a museum to visit. Always plenty to do in the area whatever time of year including ski racing and festivals in the Cairngorms during the winter, agricultural and flower shows in the summer. Bonfire/fireworks extravaganza in November and torchlight procession in December.
