Situated approx 130 km west of Brussels close to the border with Germany and Holland, Kelmis is approx 8 km from Aachen and 84 km from Cologne in Germany and 42 km from Maastricht in Holland. Kelmis is famous for its mineral mining. Interesting route to follow which marks out the historical residences where the borders of Germany, Holland and Belgium come together. Verviers, 22 km, with its interesting museum of Beaux-Arts and ceramics (porcelain, Belgian and foreign pottery, ancient stoneware, paintings and sculpture). Liege 40 km offers many attractions: aquarium (26 tanks of fish from all over the world), collection of sealife from the Great Barrier Reef. Museum of Wallonie folklore. Puppet theatres. Boat trips from Liege to Maastricht, 3 and a half hour cruise on the Meuse and the Albert canal. Museum of Beaux-Arts and much more. To see at Eupen (14 km): town museum in a merchant house dating from the 17th century, history of drapery, collection of clocks, wrought iron art work.
