Topography:
Town situated by the Tajo river, 15 km south of Lisbon, and 20 km north of Sesimbra. Seixal is situated in the Costa Azul region, one of the prettiest in Portugal with 50.000 hectares of protected land (Arrabida, Sado and Tagus), pretty beaches (costa Caparica, Melides, Troia) and bays (Portinho de Arrabida, Porto Covo). A visit to the eco-museum in Seixal is a must to get familiar with the history and traditions of the region. We suggest a boat trip and a visit to the Mare do Corroios windmill, which is still functioning, showing visitors how it operated in the 15th and 16th centuries. There existed more than 60 windmills making flour in this area to Lisbon.
