Topography:
Buggiano is a large agglomeration with 6'000 inhabitants, west of Montecatini Terme, between Firenze and Viareggio. The centre of the agglomeration is Borgo di Buggiano. There are several old villages around Buggiano which are worth visiting, some can be reached on foot or by rail for example Stignano, Massa, Cozzile. 3 km away from Borgo is the 170 m high, Pass Colle di Buggiano with a fortress dating from the 13th century.
